It is 2021 Why are you still not vegan?

At Stroodles we believe that being vegan can be fun and easy, and if you still didn't know, it is also one of the best ways to reduce environmental impact on earth.

On Worlds Vegan Day (1st November) Eva, one of our team members, decided to go vegan for the following week! She visited some of our favourite cafe spots in London for some delicious vegan food (served in Stroodles edible tableware, of course), so it made her vegan experience even more exciting.

Read down below to find out more about these Mr. Stroodles - verified places 😎, or if you want to find some cool ideas that Eva has prepared to help out a vegan rookie.

TAKE IT SLOW

It's 2021! Being vegan is super easy. I believe the best thing to do is to look for places - nowadays a lot of cafes and restaurants specialise in vegan food, or have some options available for vegans, which indeed makes it super easy and convenient!

Don't forget, different cuisines can offer an incredible variety of vegan meals. Whether you go fully vegan or you're just like me, who likes to take it slow, you will not be lacking delicious food even for a day!

IT’S IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO IT RIGHT

Actually, there is no right way to give veganism a try. I personally started my 'vegan week' simply - by making sure I excluded meat products from my menu during that week. But you can choose any way you like! You might try to exclude fish or eggs from your diet first and take it from there.

To be honest, I thought my week will be tragic, but to my surprise it was a fun and quite interesting experience. For the first time I've got to change my daily diet completely, and try all the possible alternatives of my regular meals, such as veggie burgers or hummus with some falafels, and… it was amazing!

WHEN GOING VEGAN IT’S IMPORTANT THAT YOU TRY NEW THINGS

My second step was to have different vegan breakfasts everyday. This time, my main focus was to include a better variety of products into my diet. One of my first tries was famous acai bowls for breakfast, which is nothing like an omelette I usually have every morning.

Where to get the best vegan açaí bowls in London, you may ask? I Couldn't find better looking and, more importantly, tastier breakfast bowls than the ones from Juice Baby in Notting Hill. They specifically prepared them for me in Stroodles edible bowls served with our delicious edible biscuit spoons that are all vegan too! Perfect combination, and a must-try for all the vegans out there!

SMALL CHANGES MEAN YOU NEED TO KEEP LEARNING

If I am being honest, I cheated during my 3rd vegan challenge day as I had my favourite dairy pancakes for lunch. BUT, I understood that things like this can happen, especially when you are just starting, so I didn’t worry too much.

On the other hand, it was a good lesson for me. After eating my pancakes I realised I could have tried a vegan pancake recipe if I took additional time to consider my meal beforehand, and did my recipe research.

Alternatively, you could look for vegan pancake places around you. The next time I decided to have pancakes, I went to this place that offered delicious vegan pancakes topped with fresh fruits.

REMEMBER WHY YOU HAVE TAKEN ON THIS SUSTAINABLE ACTION

Another great thing about vegan diet is that by going vegan you become a little bit more sustainable as well. And you don't have to be fully vegan to make a change! I was planning to go vegan for a week only, but I do believe that even small steps count and contribute towards a bigger sustainable picture.

P.S. Those small steps can be as simple as choosing a plant-based alternative milk!  Did you know that over 1000 gallons of water are required to produce 1 gallon of milk? Not very sustainable, is it? But what if we all started to drink almond, soya or coconut milk instead of the regular one? Wouldn't it be so cool? I am pretty sure it would make a huge difference to our planet Earth ;)
